Violence Prevention Educator Internship

The Phoenix Center at Auraria’s Violence Prevention Peer Education (VPE) Program raises awareness and exposes myths and stereotypes of interpersonal violence through interactive workshops in and out of classrooms. 

The VPE program consists of a group of committed Auraria students who provide workshops on a variety of topics topics related to interpersonal violence (IPV). Workshops can be customized to run 60-90 minutes long so they can be easily implemented during a class period, staff meeting, or conference. They are interactive sessions and intend to engage the folks in the discussion of these difficult issues.

Undergraduate and graduate prevention education interns will be trained to provide consistent, thorough information about relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking, and related topics to the Auraria campus community. They will be involved in the design of prevention and education programs and their implementation.

Prevention Education Interns will actively engage in campus awareness activities, classroom presentations, orientations, and educational presentations to various campus groups.  Prevention Education Interns must be self-starters and able to fulfill their hours with little direction.

We are looking for flexible and committed individuals who are dedicated to the cause. Prevention Education Interns will develop presentation, facilitation, and leadership skills through participation in this opportunity.  We serve the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz, the Community College of Denver and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

Social Media Internship

Social Media Interns will be trained to provide consistent, thorough information about relationship violence, sexual violence, stalking, and related topics to the Auraria campus community through physical and digital marketing materials and social media content.

Social Media Interns will conduct research about interpersonal violence to create bathroom signs, event flyers, and social media posts for the PCA. Social Media Interns will use Canva in the creation of these physical and digital marketing materials. Social Media Interns will be responsible for managing and creating content for the PCA’s podcast “The Phoenix Cast”, PCA website, email listserv, Instagram, and TikTok. Social Media Interns will also create graphics for the PCA buttons that will be handed out at PCA tablings and events.

Social Media Interns must be self-starters and able to fulfill their hours with little direction. We are looking for flexible and committed individuals who are dedicated to violence prevention work through education, marketing, and the creation of social media content. Social Media Interns will develop research, marketing, critical thinking, and leadership skills through participation in this internship/work-study position.  We serve the University of Colorado Denver, the Community College of Denver, and Metropolitan State University of Denver.
